Salary

UMMC pays Resident/Fellows on a biweekly basis.  Salaries are subject to all deductions required by state and federal law and such other deductions as Resident/Fellow may authorize.

Parking on site for each rotation, at no cost to you.  Any expense is covered by the Department of Emergency Medicine.  

Additional Stipends

PGY Year Stipend Notes
All PGY levels $500 For conferences, books, or other educational activities is provided by the hospital each year, after you have been here for 6 months.
PGY 1 OR 2 $500 For a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Must be used by the end of your PGY-2 year.
PGY I- Categorical & Combined $1000* This stipend is to attend AAEM.
PGY II- Categorical & Combined $1000* This stipend is to attend SAEM. For combined residents, this stipend can be used in PGY II, PGY III, or PGY IV - whenever the resident is able to attend, but only for one attendance.
PGY III - Categorical & Combined $1000* This stipend is to used for ACEP conference attendance. For combined residents, this stipend can be used in PGY III, PGY IV, PGY V, PGY VI- whenever the resident is able to attend, but only for one conference.

*Stipend has been increased to $1200 for West Coast conferences where travel costs are higher. Up to the discretion of the program director.

National Conference Stipend covers:

  • Air/Ground transportation
  • Hotel (only for room, no amenities included)
  • Food (based on IRS limits)

All original receipts must be turned into our finance department to receive reimbursement.
